Volunteers actually get paid to make a difference in the community!
Here are some requirements for firefighter that you might like to know about.
Definition: Under direction, performs fire suppression, fire prevention and station and equipment maintenance activities; does related work as required; reports to Lieutenant or Captain as per standard operating procedure.
Typical Tasks: (illustrative only)
Job Requirements: Geographical knowledge of the township and the location of important buildings or the ability to rapidly acquire this knowledge; ability to learn the principles and practices of firefighting; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; strong customer service skills; good judgement; mechanical aptitude. Must be able to respond to calls a few nights a week.
Required Certificates and Licenses: Must be willing to pursue firefighter certification, with certification process completed by no later than one year from date of hire. Must obtain Hazardous Materials - Operations Level certification. Must have an Ohio Driver's License and a vehicle that is certifiable by the Ohio Fire Marshal's Office as a public safety vehicle.
