Candle Fire Safety

With the holiday season upon us, many citizens will be getting in the spririt by decorating their homes and lighting candles.  Home fires resulting from burning candles are on the rise and it is important to remember that the majority of candles fires are easily preventable.

- Avoid using open flame candles, consider using battery operated flameless candles instead.

- If using open flame candles, make sure they are placed in a solid, study holder.

- Keep open flame candles AT LEAST 12 inches away from anything that can burn.

- Never leave open flame candles unattended, it only takes a moment for a fire to start.

- Take precation and watch children and pets closely and keep them away from the flame.
