Every second counts during a fire, police or medical emergency. Valuable time can be lost if your address number is not clearly posted where emergency responders can see it.
In an effort to locate your home during an emergency, the Washington Township Fire Department is offering a 6" by 18" reflective sign that can clearly display your street address. These signs are invaluable to firefighters, paramedics or police officers who may be looking for your home during an emergency.
Address locator signs are $10.00 if you choose to install them yourself (you save $5.00). The fire department will install the signs for $15.00. Download the order form, mail it to us and we will prepare your sign. Make your check made payable to the Washington Township Trustees and mail to the address below. After your sign is complete, we will contact you or deliver the sign directly to your residence. Please allow four to six weeks for your sign to be completed or installed. We suggest that signs be installed only on mailbox posts. This will result in a more uniform look throughout the community and will allow emergency personnel to better locate your address.
If you would like the fire department to install your sign, please indicate somewhere on your form if you have a metal mailbox post. These are slightly harder to install and special hardware may be needed, depending on your type of post and mailbox.
If you are installing your own sign, please make sure the bottom of the sign is at least one foot from the ground. This will provide for better visibility in the event of high foliage (grass, weeds, bushes). Also, it is best to install the sign vertical and on the back side of the mailbox posts. This installation will make the sign more secure during snow plowing operations and will help guard it against drive-by vandalism.
Signs installed by the fire department will only be placed on mailbox posts. Numbers are applied to signs prior to delivery to the customer. Download the Form.
