The Division of Fire Safety at the Washington Township Fire Department is responsible for ensuring that buildings, businesses and new construction in the community are built and maintained according to the most up-to-date safety codes.
Division members oversee the inspection programs, which are carried out by firefighters assigned to various districts in the community. Division employees also routinely review building plans and approve those which meet accepted codes and standards.
Several members of the fire department also serve as fire investigators. They determine the cause of the fire, any behaviors which might have prevented the fire, and they identify possible ways to prevent the situation from happening again.
