Personnel The Washington Township Fire Department is directed by William Gaul, III. Gaul has been a member of the department since 1979. He has served many roles with the agency. As a result he has been promoted several times during his service, eventually to the duties of Chief.

Combined Department This is a combination department with over 200 total personnel. There are more than 30 paid (career) persons, including firefighter staff, inspectors, educators, fire alarm operators, mechanics and administrative employees. Many part-time support personnel assist the department in areas of training, maintenance, medical administration, public education, and clerical. The paid-on-call emergency personnel number over 80. Of these, there are five captains and fifteen lieutenants. Paid-on-call staff (traditionally known as volunteers) include both firefighters and emergency medical services personnel or a combination thereof. A number of persons also serve as part-time firefighters and/or EMS responders. These people serve at the stations during the typical work week, working side-by-side with career and paid-on-call department members.
