Rick Lasky is a 28-year veteran of the fire service. He is chief of the Lewisville, Texas Fire Department. Chief Lasky began his career as a firefighter in the suburbs of southwest Chicago. While in Illinois he received the 1996 International Society of Fire Service Instructors "Innovator of the Year" award for his part in developing the "Saving Our Own" program.

Lasky served as the co-lead instructor for the H.O.T. Firefighter Survival program at the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) for more than 10 years and is an editorial advisory board member for Fire Engineering magazine. He serves on the FDIC advisory board.

Pride and OwnershipRick Lasky contributes monthly to the Fire Engineering Roundtable column. He is the author of the book Pride and Ownership: A Firefighter's Love of the Job and the leadership series featured in Fire Engineering magazine. He is also host of the radio show "Pride and Ownership" heard on Fire Engineering Radio.
