Safety Updates

Fire Drills

Famillies are encouraged to make a family escape plan for all members of the home and practice it at least twice each year. Pick a safe meeting spot in your front yard and practice getting out of the home at different times of the day and night.

Some points to remember:

  • Your primary exit path may be blocked due to smoke or fire, so find different ways out of every room.
  • Sleeping young children may not awaken at the sound of a smoke alarm, so have a drill at night to see how your children react.
  • Make a game out of it with your entire family, time your exit drills and try to beat your best time.
