Washington Township’s 30th annual summer camp program promises kids a world of adventure, with eight camp options for preschool through grade eight.

Campers can stamp their passport with an array of activities and destinations that will excite their imagination and fill their summer with friends, fun and imagination.

Each week offers a different combination of activities and trips, to satisfy the adventurer in them week after week. Whether campers sign up for one week or all ten, they can explore our recreation campus and its many local attractions, including outdoor games, swimming, canoeing, rock climbing, and arts and crafts.

So, campers, pack your bags and explore the world by land and water this summer at WT Rec! Our recreation staff is commited to providing a quality, enjoyable experiences for each and every one. Our full-day camps are sure to provide a passport to adventure and a full itinerary of activities, creativity and fun.

Traditional Camps & Travel Camps

Woodland Play Camp

Ages 5-7

With camp counselors specially selected to provide this age group with a nurturing and safe environment, this is the place to get your child started on a great camp experience. Campers will build memories and new friendships with camp games, music, arts and crafts, swimming, canoeing, outdoor play and so much more!

Each Thursday campers take a field trip and every week they enjoy the game room, movies and other activities at Rec West.

Backwoods Camp

Ages 7-9

Campers will build memories and new friendships with outdoor games, arts and crafts, swimming, canoeing, and climbing our indoor wall. Field trips on Tuesdays include time at Rec West playing indoor activities and watching a movie on the big screen. With camp counselors specially selected to provide this age group with a nurturing and safe environment, this is this is the place to get your child started on a great camp experience.

Caravan Camp

Ages 9-11

Campers travel three days a week, each time to a new destination! Locations include local and state parks, educational sites and amusement centers. Plus, campers still find a little time to have fun at the Rec Center swimming, climbing the wall, canoeing, and even trying their hand at archery.

Backwoods & Beyond Camp

Ages 11-14

Campers travel Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to different destinations across the Miami Valley.
Tuesdays and Thursdays are spent playing games and enjoying a host of activities on the Recreation campus, including swimming and climbing the rock wall

Creative Camps

Creative campers can “book their summer travel plans” to favorite activities when they try one of our specialty camps. Skilled professionals in art and theatre will help campers develop and hone their skills. For weekly focus areas, check our camp brochure.

Art Camps

Ages 10-14

Creativity abounds with a full slate of awesome art projects! Campers will work and play with a variety of art media and also take part in traditional camp favorites such as swimming and organized outdoor play. Find the art projects schedule in the camp brochure.

Theatre Camp

Ages 6-9 Kids Act Up
Ages 9-14 Stagecrafters

Camp at Town Hall Theatre is the best of high-quality arts programming and traditional summer camp. Experienced instructors lead campers to explore acting, playwriting and stagecraft while developing public speaking skills, building self-confidence, and encouraging creativity. Don’t worry, campers won’t miss out on traditional camp activities. They'll swim, create arts and crafts and play many camp games. All camps culminate in a presentation for family and friends. Kids Act Up offers two one-week sessions and Stagecrafters offers multiple two-week sessions. Check the camp brochure for session dates and focus themes.

Camp for Preschoolers

Preschoolers ages 3-6 have their own special half-day camps Monday-Friday, either 9 am to noon or 1 to 4 pm. Cost is $54-$78, depending on residency, pass status and date of registration.

Sunshine Camp

Ages 3-6
Activities include summer sports, cooking, art, nature fun, music and science – all inspired by a weekly theme. Campers will explore our Countryside Park and Butterfly Playground, play in our activity room, and swim and play with toys in our recreational pool. Must be potty trained. Adventure Camp

Ages 3-4 
Adventure Camp celebrates a different theme each week – from music and puppets to oceans and animals. Every week includes time spent exploring Countryside Park and playing in the Butterfly Playground. The week ends with water play activities, no swimsuit required. Find weekly themes & register here.

Camp Placement

The camp programs available to your child are determined by the school grade that was completed as of May 2017.

Now That You've Registered . . .

Complete the Emergency Medical Form

For your child's safety, an Emergency Medical Form must be on file with our staff prior to your child's participation in camp. A Medical Authorization Form also is required if medication will be administered by our staff during camp hours. Both are available online as fillable forms using your computer, tablet or smartphone. Once the forms are completed, click on "submit" and you'll receive a confirmation notice that it's received:

For those wishing to fill out the information by hand, a hard copy is available at the Recreation Center front desk starting March 12. Alternatively, you may contact Jill Reid to have a pdf version emailed to you.
