Drug Drop-Off

Drug drop-off keeps unwanted medications off the street, helps prevent overdoses and accidental poisonings, and provides a disposal method that's safe for the environment and wildlife. We offer two free options:

Government Center Drop-Off Box

Old medications can be safely disposed of at a secure drop-off box in the lobby of the Washington Township Government Center, 8200 McEwen Rd. Deposits can be made any time the Government Center is open, 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.

Accepted for drop-off:

  • prescription medications, including narcotics
  • over-the-counter medications
  • herbals
  • veterinary medications

Not accepted, but can be taken to the township's Super Saturday events:

  • needles
  • sharps containers
  • liquids

Not accepted:

  • biohazard materials
  • illegal drugs

Super Service Saturdays

Residents can dispose of expired and unwanted medications at periodic Super Service Saturday events that also include free document shredding and child safety seat checks.

Find Dates & Times here.

The program is anonymous, with no questions asked. Identifying information, drug name and dosage information may be removed if desired. All types of medications as well as needles contained in an approved sharps container are accepted. Illegal substances are not part of the program.

Medication Disposal

Medications are stored by the sheriff’s office until they are collected for safe disposal by the US Drug Enforcement Administration.
