When to Ride the New Slides

Posted on Sep 18, 2017

Take a Wild Ride on Two Slides!

Two new slides -- Blue Lightning and Shark's Revenge -- are making a splash at the Washington Township Recreation Center.

Slides Are Open:

Friday 6:45-8:45pm
Saturday 1-4:45 pm
Sunday 1-4:45pm.

Swimmers 42 inches or taller may ride Blue Lightning. Those at least 48" tall may ride both Blue Lightning and Shark's Revenge.

Times subject to change.
Check our online calendar here.

One is an 85-foot, partially-enclosed figure eight flume that’s blue and the other an 80-foot, fully-enclosed yellow corkscrew. With a combined flow rate of 1,300 gallons per minute, this pair offers families twice as many opportunities to go with the flow.

To see complete and up-to-date hours of operation, check the Recreation Department's online calendar.

The new slides were installed because the 30-year-old yellow and green slide it replaces was closed due to deterioration. Structural columns and supports for the slide had weakened past the point of repair, the result of age and the corrosive effect of chlorine.

The slides were named, thanks to kids who submitted a host of creative entries and Facebook followers who voted. First-place winners of the Name the Slide Contest won a pool party with cake, plus special recognition at our Celebrate the Slides weekend
