VIP members present: Marlene Tiernan, Co-Chairperson; Gordon Dodane, Angela Hodson, Bob Harrington and Sandra Drain. Robyn Livesay of DPL Energy; Sandra Spees, VIP Consultant; and Mike Wanamaker, Public Works Manager were present.
Livesay presented a drawing and estimate for the proposed lighting for the Government Center Median on McEwen Road. The drawing shows four poles, three on the south island and one on the north island. The quote and drawing are attached. Two of the street lights on the west side of McEwen Road may be moved or removed. Wanamaker will consult with Tom Toberen, Deputy Administrator, to determine the best configuration for the islands.
Livesay also quote cost for “banner” poles that may be placed on Rahn and/or Paragon Roads. The pole without lighting is $700 installed plus $1640 leasing.
Tiernan moved to accept proposal as presented with the possibility of removing one pole. Dodane seconded. It was approved.
Wanamaker will secure information regarding irrigation for the same islands.

Tree City USA /Arbor Day
One of the components of the Tree City USA designation is to have an ongoing Arbor Day event. Suggestions made were to tag the various trees at the Rec Center site, plant a tree(s) in memory of Jan Berry, and plantings at sites identified in the streetscape plan. Drain moved to develop a long-range plan for Arbor Day celebrations. Tierman seconded. It was approved. Drain volunteered to seek input for developing a long-range plan for Arbor Day.
Flower Bed Designs for 2006
Drain moved to accept the quotes from Stockslager’s Greenhouse for the annuals, perennials and tropicals to be used at the various township sites. Tiernan seconded. It was accepted. See attachment.
Harrington asked for the mission statement of the VIP. Staff in the Public Works department may provide the information.
