VIP members present: Marlene Tiernan, Co-Chairperson; Gordon Dodane, Bob Harrington, Mabel Leyes, and Angela Hodson. Township staff members present: Mike Wanamaker and Tom Toberen. Sandra Spees, VIP Consultant was also present.
Toberen presented information regarding a grant received by the township for RTA bus stops along SR725. Four shelters are to be installed. As per the adopted streetscape plan for Washington Township the VIP Chairperson Tiernan moved to install a hipped roof structure made of coated aluminum with seating enclosed by Plexiglas or other similar materials. Leyes seconded. Three yeas, one abstention; the motion was passed. Wanamaker will present examples at the next meeting.
A letter from the township trustees was read at the March meeting regarding the meeting time for VIP. The letter recommended 4PM or 7PM. The members chose to keep the time at 3:30PM on the second Wednesday of each month.
Members asked if the tree tags proposed for Countryside Park are in progress. Explanation of design and requirements of the chosen company, Fast Signs, were discussed. This endeavor will be ongoing.
Leyes suggested that refreshments be provided for gardening workshops. Spees asked that thank you notes be sent to Joe Boggs who presented the emerald ash borer program and to Wendy Jennings and Susan Wells who presented two other gardening programs.
Dodane moved to have Spees contact Wendi Crabill to develop a plan for application to the Tree CityUSA program. Harrington seconded. The motion was passed.
Andy Ehrhart is to be invited to the May meeting.
Tiernan told the members that any time an ad hoc meeting is scheduled all members should be notified so they may attend.
All members are invited to the volunteer luncheon at Hithergreen Senior Center on April 28, 2006. They are to be recognized for their efforts in developing an Arbor Day plan which includes extensive additions to the Hithergreen grounds. Six members are to attend.
