VIP members present: Marlene Tiernan, Co-Chairperson; Gordon Dodane, Bob Harrington, Mabel Leyes. Guests included Cheryl Mauer and Mitzy Lowery. Township staff member present: Mike Wanamaker. Sandra Spees, VIP Consultant was also present.

Leyes moved to accept the May 2006 minutes as written. Harrington seconded. It was approved.

Kneelers for the Master Gardeners was discussed. Wanamaker would look into cost.

Two hypertufa workshops will be scheduled for late August and early September.

Staff is looking into protocol for bidding and contracting for grant that was discussed previously. No information was available from RTA for the bus stops along Route 725.

DPL (Robyn Livesay) has given the third proposal for lighting on the Government Center Median. More information is needed to proceed with the enhancement of the median.

Wanamaker is to get a print-out of the VIP budget.

Leyes said she would prepare coffee (or other) refreshments for the workshops.

The Beautification Award signs will be used again this year. Up to seven awards will be given for each of the three award periods.

Spees provided information about the Woodbourne Park/Cemetery plans. She met with Carol Kennard and Bootie Zengel to discuss possibilities. They will submit information to Spees by the end of June. Plans for the area will be prepared by August 1, 2006. This is part of the Arbor Day activities for 2007.

Harrington reported on the zoning review committee. He felt that not much progress had been made. He said that there is a tendency toward “old fashioned neighborhoods.” The committee is discussing how to design what’s left of land to be developed in the township.

Spees gave a brief overview of management plans for the possible emerald ash borer infestation. It is spreading. The trustees are aware of the problem and are aware of ways to deal with the situation.
