Visual Improvement Program

VIP members present: Marlene Tiernan & Sarah Stanton Co-Chairpersons; Gordon Dodane, Bob Harrington, Mabel Leyes, Mitzy Lowery and Cythni Fraley. Township staff member present: Mike Wanamaker. Sandra Spees, VIP Consultant was also present.

The minutes were approved as written.

Update from VIP Consultant, Spees, was discussed. Ken Carter of the Centerville-Washington Park District communicated with Wanamaker regarding the “deck” to be built at Hithergreen Senior Center. The current plan is to place the boulders so that the concrete will be poured around them to create a continuous surface to the terrace. The terrace will be completed at a later date.

Wanamaker update included notice of 2006 leaf pick-up that starts in October. The additional banners that were requested had to be sent as capitol improvement since the cost is over $10,000.

Wanamaker also informed the members that an election of officers needs to be held before 2007.

The McEwen Road median lighting was approved by the trustees.

The reception for Beautification Award winners will be November 6, 2007 prior to the Trustee Meeting at 7:30PM.

The annual Christmas dinner was discussed. Possible sites are Paragon Club and Bravo. Dodane requested that the dinner not be on a Wednesday in December.

Fraley moved to recommend to the staff and trustees that any new development or re-development should include landscaping plans and that those plans should be reviewed by the VIP Consultant. Stanton seconded. The motion was passed.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:45PM.
