Recreation Center Announces Registration Improvements

Registering for recreation classes is faster and more convenient now that the Washington Township Recreation Center is introducing credit card payments and streamlining its registration process.

“The changes are intended to simplify registration,” said Deputy Administrator Jesse Lightle. “In the past, registration required about three to four separate steps. Now our users can deal with one person who will take their payment and connect them with the classes they request.”

The next registration takes place 6 to 8 p.m. January 2-4. Registration takes place at about a half dozen stations set up at Rec West, located at 965 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd., next to the Washington Township Recreation Center. Helping to expedite the process is a new software program called RecTrac.

Recreation center users can pay for their classes using Master Card and Visa, including Master Card and Visa check cards if they are processed as a credit card. “We’ve become a society that relies heavily on its charge cards. Our recreation center is adapting to the way our patrons like to do business,” Lightle said.

Besides paying for classes, credit cards can be used to purchase recreation passes, to sign up for sports teams, to make ticket or coupon purchases at the front desk, and to pay walk-in fees for the use of recreation center facilities such as the pool, the gymnasium, or the fitness room. While charge cards are accepted by the township, refunds will continue to be made by check.

The Washington Township Recreation Center provides more than 200 educational and entertaining programs for adults and children spanning areas such as sports, fitness, aquatics, theater, dance, art and other related programs.

Day one of registration, which takes place January 2, is reserved for residents who have purchased a Complete Pass to the recreation center. On Wednesday, January 3, registration expands to all residents of Centerville/Washington Township. Registration opportunities expand further on Thursday, January 4, when Complete Pass Holders who are non-residents can register starting at 6 p.m. Open registration starts at 6:30 p.m. that day.
