Rec West is getting down to business. The new facility next to the Washington Township Recreation Center offers professional meeting space where local businesses can hold conferences, make presentations, and conduct corporate training.
“You might not expect it, but southern Montgomery County’s newest and best meeting space for businesses can be found at a recreation center,” says Dave Paice, recreation facilities director.
The building affords a variety of room options for everything from small meetings to large events of about 500 people.
Rec West includes an extensive lobby area, a multi-purpose room, a small gym and a game room, but the center of attraction for businesses is a 250-seat auditorium that showcases superior video and surround sound for movies, PowerPoint and other big screen presentations. Formerly a movie theater, the auditorium features the same screen that was used for viewing feature films.
“This offers an important option for small and medium-sized companies looking for state-of-the-art meeting space. Larger companies with a work force scattered throughout the country also may occasionally need a place to congregate,” says Paice.
Businesses planning to serve food on site may hire their own catering service. Rec West provides tables and chairs, but no catering equipment.
Rental of the auditorium and lobby, which together hold 495 people, costs $350 for the first two hours. The total facility costs $800 for the same amount of time. Overnight rentals also are available, as are a number of other options.
“Rec West also is available to community groups and individuals. It’s a great place to have a party,” says Paice.
