Get Ready to Scoop Up Some Fun
Get ready to scoop up some fun at the 59th annual Ice Cream Social, sponsored by the Washington Township Firefighters Association.
This year’s event features the
same great food and activities as always and an array of free
games for children. Kids can, for instance, shoot water at a
pretend fire, wind their way through a maze, or try their pitching
arm at a dunking booth.
The social takes place 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, August 12, at Fire Station No. 41, 163 Maple Ave., across from Stingley Elementary and the Centerville Post Office. Visitors can start with grilled barbecue chicken, hamburgers, slaw, baked beans and corn on the cob. Then they can stay for ice cream, live rescue demonstrations, a raffle and tours of fire apparatus. As in the past, Miami Valley Hospital's Careflight helicopter will fly over the event and demonstrate an emergency landing.
Washington Township Firefighters Association – an independent, charitable organization comprised of township firefighters – donates a large portion of its proceeds to the Washington Township Fire Department.
