This season marks our 20th year presenting theatre for young audiences in the “heart of Centerville.” And, it’s been quite the adventure, let me tell you!
In that time, we have reached nearly half- a-million young people onstage and in the classroom. That’s a lot of kids taking flight!
Our community is extraordinarily fortunate to possess such a vibrant performing arts venue; one that impacts young people onstage and off in so many extraordinary ways.
At our core, is a mission to inspire personal growth in young people by creating shared performing arts experiences for families. Our staff’s priority is to encourage a nurturing, creative environment in which an arts dialogue between adults and children can take place.
In the process, we have the unique opportunity to build character, strengthen public speaking skills and build self-confidence. These are life skills that will benefit our young performers whatever adventure life brings their way!
We also empower young people to use their imaginations, encouraging them to “take flight” on the wings of what’s possible and impossible; to realize that there is no challenge, however great, that cannot be overcome by the human spirit.
This season, we meet eight such characters; young people who embark on some extraordinary adventures and are challenged to explore a world filled with possibilities.
Sometimes, those adventures are local, such as those faced by the young campers at Camp Rock who are challenged to find ways to stay true to their music.
Sometimes, they take a great leap of imagination such as those taken by Young Jeremy Jacob in How I Became a Pirate.
And, sometimes, those adventures come as result from meeting an extraordinary challenge with determination…and a little imagination! Just ask Stanley Lambchop!
Imagination isn’t easy. It’s a lot like exercise. You’ve got to make time for it. So, let’s flex those muscles, open our minds…
And take flight!
