Audition Guidelines

Rules To Live By

The grade requirements must be met as of the first day of rehearsal. The most recently completed grade is used to determine eligibilty.

All auditionees must bring a headshot or photo. Resumes are recommended but not required.

Auditionees must prepare a one-minute memorized monologue. For musicals, please also prepare a one-minute selection from a Broadway-style song and bring either the appropriate sheet music or an instrumental CD/cassette. An accompanist will be provided. Singing a cappella or alongside of a recorded voice is strongly discouraged. For help selecting audition material, contact the Theatre Manager.

Callbacks are generally scheduled on Saturdays the week following general auditions.

There is an instructional fee for children currently enrolled in grades 2-12 cast in any production at THT. The L.C.T.C. fees include a cast t-shirt and show poster. The fees are not due at the time of the audition, but must be paid prior to the first rehearsal.

Registration is required in advance. Register online to schedule an audition appointment.

Fees are:

  • $131 for A.C.T. Showcase Productions
  • $141 for L.C.T.C. Productions

Acting Classes

Building Character On Stage

Completion of our core introductory skills class, Acting One is a prerequisite for being cast in an A.C.T. Showcase Show. Completion of Acting Level Two is a requirement for being cast in a Landmark Children's Theatre Company show for all children in grades 2 - 8. This policy insures that everyone in a THT production not only shares the same basic theatre vocabulary and knowledge, but also understands the responsibilities of an actor from rehearsal to performance. Our goal is for every child to have a rewarding experience rehearsing/performing a show, much of which is dependent on knowing what is expected of them as a performer.

Performance Instructors

Training Young Actors

The theatre casts professionally-trained adult performance instructors for each of the Landmark Children’s Theatre Company productions. In addition to performing featured roles in each show, performance instructors serve as mentors; leading daily warm-up exercises, running lines and reviewing blocking with young performers. They also teach a series of actor development workshops. These sessions focus on core disciplines such as voice, movement and characterization, as well as teaching show-specific topics such as stage combat, specialty make-up and puppetry. Candidates are encouraged to contact the Theatre Manager at 433-8957 ext. 2830 prior to scheduled auditions.

Adult Casting

Adults roles are cast age appropriate in Landmark Children’s Theatre Company productions. The theatre casts actors from its open auditions for each show.
