Care FacilityWashington Township elected officials helped celebrate the April opening of a new memory care community in Washington Township -- Symphony at Centerville, located at 7383 Paragon Rd.

Symphony aims to change the way families think about Alzheimer's Disease with its signature In the Moment® Memory Support program, a team-approach to dementia care that focuses on holistic healing, overall well-being, and resident individuality.

"Since Alzheimer's impacts the mind and body, it's crucial that we treat both of them," said Adam Squires, regional director of sales and marketing. "We take the time to sincerely learn who the resident is, what their wants and needs are, and what they still enjoy. We understand how much emotional health ties into overall well-being, so we try to create everyday moments where our residents enjoy being a part of our family."

"We strive to create an environment where our residents can truly live once they move in with us," added Kelsey Barney, Symphony at Centerville's executive director. "Our residents are still involved in the community, practice hobbies, learn new things, you name it. We don't let their Alzheimer's Disease define them."

Another key component is the idea that Alzheimer's Disease is a journey that residents, staff, and residents' families take together. The facility is managed by Milestone Retirement which specializes in senior living management with emphasis in independent living, assisted living, and memory support. Formed in 2008, Milestone manages more than 80 communities in 17 states.
