Diversity Councils 20th Annual MLK Breakfast is Planned

Elfred Anthony Pinkard, president of Wilberforce University, will present the keynote address for the 20th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast hosted by the Centerville-Washington Diversity Council. His topic on Monday, January 20, will be "King's Beloved Community Re-Imagined."

Pinkard previously served as executive vice president and chief operating officer at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina and was founding executive director of the United Negro College Fund Institute for Capacity Building which assists 37 member institutions.

He has held administrative positions at ten institutes of higher learning, including seven historically black colleges or universities, and is on the leadership team at the Higher Education Leadership Foundation, a leadership development organization with a focus on historically black colleges. He received his doctor of education degree in administration, planning and social policy from Harvard University.

The breakfast takes place 7:30 to 9:30 am at the Golf Club at Yankee Trace, with doors opening at 7 am. Online registration begins December 1 at cwtdiversity.org. Tickets are $20 each, or $200 for a table of ten. Businesses and individuals interested in sponsoring the event are invited to apply at cwtdiversity.org by November 30.

Diversity Council Membership - The council is seeking new members who are interested in furthering its mission to celebrate and promote an inclusive, diverse and welcoming community.
