Reopening Responsibly 

At the Washington Township Rec Center, the health and safety of our community and staff is our number one priority. As we reopen our facility to the public, we are prepared to protect all those we serve through adapted operations and by following state guidelines. 

What's Opening & When?

Walking Track, Fitness Center, Aerobics Classes: On May 26, the fitness center, walking track and certain aerobics classes will be open to the public. Appointments are strongly encouraged, however you are welcome to walk in without an appointment during the operational hours until we reach our mandated state capacity. 

Rec'ing Crew: Summer Edition: On June 1, the Rec Center will operate 10 individual camp sites as part of our modified camp/youth care program. Participants will have designated homerooms, bathrooms and staffing.

Fitness Classes: On June 8, designated fitness classes will begin. Registration is happening now and class sizes are limited so register today!

Playgrounds: On June 10, outdoor playgrounds in Countryside Park will reopen. Capacity is limited to 6 individuals on the playground at one time. Playgrounds will not be routinely sanitized so please practice proper hygiene and thoroughly wash your hands before and after playing. Individuals must practice physical distancing while on playgrounds.

Senior Transportation: On June 15, senior transportation will resume and the delivery of congregate meals will continue. 

Pools: On June 20, the pool will open to residents of Centerville/Washington Township and pass holders for lap swim and open swim by appointment only. Initially, the pool will be closed Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm. Please visit the aquatics page for reservation links and important information you need to know before you visit.

Fitness Center & Walking Track

Appointments are strongly encouraged to use the fitness center & walking track at this time. Appointments can be made by registering online or calling 937-433-0130. The facility is operating at limited capacity due to state-mandated guidelines. If you arrive without an appointment and the facility is at capacity or closed for cleaning, we will schedule you for the next available opening. Please note that the facility is closed for cleaning during the following times: 7:30-8am, 9:30-10am, 11:30-12pm, 1:30-2pm, 3:30-4pm, 5:30-6pm, 7:30-8pm. If you walk in without an appointment during those times, you will be asked to wait in your car or return until the next time frame.

Access to the facility will be limited during the summer due to Rec'ing Crew: Summer Edition. To accommodate, we will offer extended hours beginning June 1.
 
During the period of June 1-August 21, public use of the facility will be limited to the east wing of the main Rec Center, including an expanded fitness center, walking track, and aerobics classes in the large gym. The pool will reopen on June 20 however, it will remain closed 9am-4pm Monday-Friday. 

Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm, the main entrance of the Rec Center will remain closed. At your scheduled appointment time, please enter through the Atrium, east of the main entrance. Those new entrancerequiring an accessible entrance will continue using the main entrance. Do not enter the facility until your scheduled appointment. You will be asked to wait in your car if arriving early. 

Common areas remain closed. Only registered users will be permitted inside the building. Parents of minors will be asked to remain in their car if not actively participating. 

Countryside Park will be reserved for exclusive use by our camp participants and be closed to the public June 1-August 21 between the hours of 9am-4pm Monday – Friday.

Registering for Appointments

Everyone is strongly encouraged to make an appointment to use the fitness center & walking track. If you are a current pass holder, no fee will be charged when scheduling your appointment. At this time, non-pass holder use of the Rec Center is limited to residents of Centerville & Washington Township. 

Pass holders and residents will be able to register for appointments one week at a time. Registration will remain open until noon on the day prior to use. For example, if you want to walk on the track at 10am on Tuesday, you must register by noon on Monday.

Enrichment Center members are provided access to the Rec Center's walking track, fitness center and Silver Sneakers fitness classes during regular business hours.

Everyone will be required to complete a health-assessment upon registering. 

What to Expect Upon Entering

All Recreation staff and vendors will be wearing face-coverings, except in those cases where it is unsafe for the individual or where industry regulations may prevent the wearing of face-coverings.

Face-coverings are required for everyone entering the facility, except in cases where it is unsafe for the individual. 

Effective July 8th at 6pm, in accordance with the Ohio Department of Health, masks or facial coverings must be worn by everyone in all areas of our buildings.  Masks must also be worn in Countryside Park where social distancing of at least 6 feet cannot be maintained.

Pool: Masks are required when on the pool deck. Masks should be removed prior to swimming.

Fitness: Masks must be worn when a patron is not at a physically distanced and marked floor space or piece of equipment. Masks must be worn when entering the building and before/after classes or when moving between pieces of equipment.

Walking Track: Because social distancing cannot be insured, all users must wear masks for the duration of their time on the track.

Sports: Where at least 6’ of social distancing cannot be assured, masks must be worn at all times, including both contact and non-contact sports and classes.

Recreation staff shall facilitate health screening questions and optional temperature screenings for everyone entering the facility.

Groups of more than 10 are not permitted. Social distancing is required of everyone in the facility. Family members are not required to practice social distancing as a group of 10 or less but must continue to socially distance from non-family members.

cardio equipmentAll facilities will be vigorously and routinely cleaned and disinfected throughout the day. Additionally, the center will close at 8am, noon, and 4pm for hourly cleanings. The entire facility will be deep cleaned nightly.

Restroom use will be restricted to one patron or family at a time. Bathrooms will be cleaned and disinfected every 2 hours and logged. 

In accordance with state recommendations, locker rooms are not available to the public at this time.

Water fountains will remain closed until further notice. Touchless bottle filling stations have been installed in our buildings. Please bring your own water bottle. Vending machines will be closed.

What Remains Closed?

The Rec Center's climbing wall remain closed to the public at this time.

Common areas inside the Rec Center remain closed.

Rec West and the Enrichment Center remain closed to the public at least through August 21. Enrichment Center members are provided access to the Rec Center's walking track, fitness center and Silver Sneakers fitness classes while the Enrichment Center is closed.

Town Hall Theatre remains closed to the public at least through August 21

Countryside Park will be closed to the public on weekdays 9am-4pm from June 1-August 21.

Reservations for birthday parties and public rentals will not be permitted at least through August 21
