Battalion Chief One of Only 153 Worldwide to Receive Designation

Washington Township Fire Department’s Battalion Chief Michael Guadagno has received the Chief EMS Officer (CEMSO) designation, making him one of only 153 CEMSO designees worldwide. This designation is given by the Center for Public Safety Excellence and recognizes individuals who demonstrate excellence in seven components including experience, education, professional development, professional contributions, association membership, community involvement and technical competence.

The designation program evaluates candidates using a comprehensive peer review model. “We all do this job without the want or need for recognition however, having your career’s work validated by peers is the of the highest acknowledgements and honors you can receive,” says Battalion Chief Guadagno.

The EMS division is one of the busiest services the fire department provides to the community. Leading that division requires a wide range of abilities including budget management, researching innovative equipment and medical techniques to ensure that personnel are providing excellent care. Battalion Chief Guadagno also holds the designation of Chief Training Officer (CTO) with the Center of Public Safety Excellence. Another distinct group of only 152 designees worldwide.
