MCSO's Community Cruise In Offers Fun for the Family on Saturday, July 27

Families are invited to an afternoon of classic cars, hot rods and activities on Saturday, July 27, at the first Community Cruise In presented by the Washington Township Substation of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

The free event takes place noon to 3 pm at Watts Middle School, 7056 McEwen Rd., in Washington Township. Highlights include hot dogs grilled by sheriff’s deputies, 1950s sock hop music by a Centerville High School deejay, and the opportunity to explore police, fire and SWAT vehicles. All makes and models of cars and hotrods will cruise the grounds and be displayed. “Our goal is to offer some good family fun. It’s a priority for us to reach out to the community,” said Sheriff Rob Streck.

Local businesses and organizations also will be on site with activities such as corn hole, an inflatable soccer goal for practice shots, and a blow-up obstacle course by Bounce a Roo. SICSA staff will bring some puppies, Centerville Crossfit will present workout demonstrations, and a number of car-related vendors will have displays. Washington Township substation’s new crime prevention trailer will be on site and deputies will provide child ID services and crime prevention information.

Although the Community Cruise In is not a formal car show, People’s Choice trophies will be presented to three vehicles.

To Register a Car

To register a car, call Washington Township at 433-0152 by Wednesday, July 24. Registration is free. Cars that are not registered will have the opportunity to be displayed in overflow parking.

The Community Cruise In is presented by the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office with assistance from Washington Township, Centerville City Schools and four sponsors: Skelton & Appley Sports, Sam’s Club, Bounce a Roo and Alley Cat Designs. The rain date is August 3.
