Ice Cream Social Offers Food & Fun

The Firefighters Ice Cream Social is canceled for 2020, but will return in 2021.

The Firefighters Ice Cream Social has been a summer staple since 1948, so we have every intention of keeping this community tradition alive. We look forward to bringing it back next year and seeing you all there!

The ice cream social normally takes place on the second Sunday in August at Fire Station 44, located at 6690 Centerville Business Parkway. The classic event features fire and rescue demonstrations, family activities, and (of course!) cold and creamy ice cream.

SparkyKids can play games, shoot water at a pretend fire, play in mounds of foam, and meet Sparky the Fire Dog who will judge the annual ice cream eating contest. Educational opportunities include displays, tours of fire apparatus, and live fire and rescue demonstrations – from a traffic accident to a car fire. Visitors also can take a look inside both CareFlight and MedFlight helicopters.

The Firefighters Ice Cream Social draws an average of 6,000 community members. Admission is free and cash or credit cards are accepted for food purchases, including ice cream and pie served by firefighters. The social takes place rain or shine.
