Paving was completed last Friday. Now just a few more tasks -- including guardrails and striping -- are required. If the weather cooperates, the bridge will be open in a couple weeks!

Bridge workAugust 6 Update -
The old bridge is coming down over the next few weeks, starting with the guard rail and then the beams.

August 5 Update -
Mad River Road bridge closes for approximately 90 days.

July 26 Update -
The southbound lane of Mad River between Alex-Bell and Munger will be open to traffic on Saturday, July 27. Both lanes will remain open through August 4. On August 5, both lanes of Mad River between Alex-Bell and Munger will close in order for bridge replacement to take place.

July 18 Update -

DP&L has reported that the work to relocate poles and electric lines will continue into next week. Both lanes of Mad River Road will be open to traffic Saturday, July 20, through Monday, July 22. However, the detour for the southbound lane of Mad River Road between Munger Road and Alex Bell Road will resume Tuesday, July 23. Closure is expected to continue through Friday, July 26.

July 11 Update -
The southbound lane of Mad River Road from Alex-Bell to Munger is slated for closure Tuesday, July 16, through Thursday, July 18, so that utilities can be relocated prior to bridge reconstruction. As with all project closures, this is weather permitting. Northbound traffic will be allowed to use the bridge.

Following utility relocation, the road will fully re-open until bridge replacement begins. Starting August 5, the road (including both lanes) will be closed for bridge replacement.

Reconstruction of the bridge on Mad River Road is a project of the Montgomery County Engineer's Office.
