Township's Land Use Plan is Being Updated
Community Members are Invited to Participate
Washington Township is embarking on an update to its Community Land Use Plan, the document that guides development and redevelopment in the unincorporated section of the township.
As part of the process, residents and stakeholders will be invited to offer their guidance at a series of public meetings, said Development Director Ryan Lee.
“We’re reaching out to the community and engaging stakeholders to help us develop goals and objectives for future growth and development,” Lee said. It’s anticipated that the plan will advise the township on development practices for the next 10 to 20 years.
This marks the first update to the township’s original Community Land Use Plan which was adopted in 2004 as a joint venture with the City of Centerville. Updates will be made this time to the township component of the plan. As with the 2004 community plan, a consulting firm will be engaged to help facilitate the process.
As part of the project, the Washington Township Zoning Resolution will be updated so that the two documents present similar language, wording and intent.
“Updating both documents at the same time will provide a seamless connection between the two,” Lee said. The Washington Township Zoning Resolution was adopted in 1957 and has been amended 22 times.
