The Washington Township Fire Department is an accredited agency providing fire and emergency medical services to Centerville/Washington Township through a cost-effective combination of full-time and part-time staff. Fire and EMS crews respond from five fire stations strategically located throughout the community.

Command Staff

Chief Scott Kujawa directs the fire department. A staff member since 1991, he previously served three years as deputy chief in charge of operations and twice oversaw successful accreditation processes through the Commission on Fire Accreditation International. The command staff also includes:

Fire Department Staffing

The Washington Township Fire Department provides around-the-clock emergency response with personnel who respond directly from five fire stations positioned strategically throughout Centerville/Washington Township.

Shifts are supervised by one of three captains and are staffed by full-time firefighters, part-time emergency responders and part-paid volunteers. Full-time firefighters are scheduled for 24-hour work shifts and every fire station includes bunk rooms.

Fire department staff includes:

Career/Full Time – More than 50 career staff work full time for the Fire Department, including firefighters, inspectors, fire alarm operators, mechanics and administrative employees.

Part-Time – Part-time firefighters and EMS responders serve at the stations during the typical work week, working side-by-side with career and part-paid volunteers. Part-time support personnel assist in areas of accreditation, training, maintenance, medical administration, public education and clerical services.

Honor Guard

The Honor Guard participates in community events where flag raising or dedication ceremonies take place and serves as the formal representative of the fire department during memorial services. For a civic or community event, contact us at 937-433-3083 or make a request by email. Members include:
