Washington Township is in the final stages of updated its Comprehensive Land Use Plan and community input has been a vital part of the process. Ultimately, all the feedback collected from residents, through both the survey and the open house, will be used as recommendations to help guide land use policy, funding, resource decisions, and infrastructure as the Township continues updating the Comprehensive Plan.

Next Steps
Washington Township will compile a draft plan to be reviewed by the Zoning Commission and Township Trustees. This review will happen on:

The Development Services Department oversees and enforces Washington Township's Zoning Resolution, the legal document that controls and coordinates land use in the unincorporated section of the township. Staff members also enforce the township's property maintenance code and the state of Ohio's nuisance abatement standards for high weeds and grass.

Taking Services to Residents

Zoning inspectors regularly take their services on the road in order to provide a high level of customer service and a proactive approach to enforcement. Their goal is to identify violations before neighbors need to call. Inspectors provide assistance in a wide range of areas – from zoning violations and high grass to zoning permits. 

Residents or businesses are encouraged to use our online portal to access the different services that the Development Services Department offers including planning and zoning operations, ribbon cutting or groundbreaking requests, code enforcement, and more.
