Public Works

The Public Works Department oversees the construction, improvement and maintenance of township roads, including sidewalks, traffic signs, traffic signals, curbs, gutters and the storm sewer system within the public right-of-way. In total, the department staff maintains about 150 miles of roads.

Two other major services are leaf pickup and snow removal. The department also helps implement the township's streetscape program, such as entry signs and bus stops, and oversees beautification efforts, including public plantings and the township's Visual Improvement Program Committee.

The department maintains public right-of-ways and six cemeteries, including one active cemetery, the Centerville-Washington Township Cemetery on Maple Avenue.

Public Works is responsible for the following tasks:

  • Snow Removal
  • Street Sweeping
  • Storm Sewer Maintenance
  • Township Vehicle Maintenance
  • Traffic Control Devices
  • Sidewalk Installation and Maintenance

Many of the roads in Washington Township are either state or county roads, and are not maintained by this department.

AES Ohio is responsible for  vegetation management in the area of their power transmission lines.
