Climbing, acting, playing pickleball, kayaking, designing costumes, battling dodgeball, creating science experiments and crafts – there’s something for every child at Washington Township RecPlex Summer Camps. And when we say every child, we mean it!
We are proud to have expanded our inclusive programming this summer, helping children with disabilities experience camp like never before. Through 40 hours of intensive staff training in child development, crisis prevention, and youth mental health; use of adaptive equipment; and a community-wide commitment to patience, understanding, and acceptance, we worked together to ensure all campers were set up for success.
Parents often share their worry that their child with special needs can’t go to camp. But at the RecPlex they can. This summer, our staff showed incredible heart and perseverance during tough moments, our parents trusted us to create an accepting and memorable experience for their children, and our community embraced the joy that comes from celebrating every child’s unique abilities.
Thank you to every camper, parent, and staff member who made this summer camp unforgettable. Because when we all work together, camp truly becomes a place where every child belongs.
