Recreation Advisory Board

Recreation Advisory Board

When the RecPlex considers a new policy, building expansion, or any significant change in procedure, the proposal first goes to the Recreation Advisory Board.

When Washington Township purchased the South Suburban YMCA in 1988, the Trustees created the Recreation Advisory Board. Since then, the board has helped guide the Recreation Department through decades of growth, including facility expansions and new programs.

The board serves as a link between recreation users and Township staff. It supports the Recreation Department’s mission and facilities while ensuring that members have a clear and inclusive voice.

Township Trustees appoint the board. Seven at-large members live or work in Washington Township. Four additional members are appointed by the Trustees based on recommendations from Centerville City Council, Centerville City Schools, and the Washington-Centerville Public Library. Members serve staggered three-year terms.

Residents who want to share ideas about the RecPlex or its programs — or who are interested in serving on the board — are encouraged to contact the RecPlex or a board member.
