America 250

The year 2026 brings two remarkable milestones – America’s 250th anniversary and Washington Township’s 230th birthday. There are events taking place across the country, including right here in Centerville-Washington Township, thanks to a community-wide collaboration between Washington Township, the City of Centerville, Washington-Centerville Public Library, Centerville-Washington Park District, Centerville-Washington History, the Americana Festival, and Centerville City Schools.

Lantern Fest

Join us for an enchanting evening of magic, laughter, and community at Lantern Fest in Countryside Park! Let your spirits soar as we light up the pond with our radiant lanterns, creating a mesmerizing display of beauty and wonder. This is a celebration of unity, where friends, family, and neighbors come together to share unforgettable moments. Each lantern pack costs $10, and tickets are on sale now (includes lantern and one wristband for all activities). Food trucks, music, and games will also be available. This event is open to the public. If you do not buy a lantern pack, there are limited free activities.

Celebrate America's birthday in Centerville-Washington Township! The Township is proud to be a host sponsor of Ohio's largest Fourth of July festival. Mark your calendar for the 2027 event and be sure to watch the Americana Festival website for detailed information.

Cruise-In to the Ice Cream Social

The Cruise-In to the Ice Cream Social highlights the services and departments that make Washington Township the best place to live, work, and play, plus features classic cars and hotrods of all makes and models, along with games, complimentary hot dogs and hamburgers, and free ice cream. The RecPlex also will be open so families can enjoy free open swim, open gym, and rock climbing.

Annual favorites include painting an ambulance, shooting water at a pretend fire, and meeting Sparky the fire dog. Attendees can also watch live fire department demonstrations and get up close with police, fire, and SWAT vehicles, connecting with the dedicated public safety teams that proudly protect and serve Washington Township every day.
