Yes. Residents may still choose among the three haulers that have been providing waste and recycling services in unincorporated Washington Township for many years.

You also may choose not to have waste collection service. If you opt out, you are responsible for taking your garbage to a separate facility on your own.

After we contacted the three waste haulers that operate in the Township, Rumpke expressed interest in offering preferred pricing. This will reduce waste collection costs for most households while still allowing residents to choose from the three waste haulers that operate in the Township.

Yes. In September 2026, Rumpke sent a mailer to all Washington Township residents – those who are already Rumpke customers and those who currently use a different provider. You can also read this news release for information about Rumpke’s preferred pricing.

Your Rumpke pickup schedule will stay the same. Rumpke will continue to pick up waste from residences in the Township not less than one time each week. Such services may be performed on a regular schedule between the hours of 6:30 am and 7 pm, Monday through Friday, except for holiday rescheduling when Saturday pick up may be required. If regularly scheduled collections are missed, please call 800-828-8171 and Rumpke will promptly reschedule such collections.

Residents who are already Rumpke customers will be automatically enrolled at the preferred pricing rate on January 1, 2027.

If you use a different waste hauler and would like to switch to Rumpke’s service, please call 800-828-8171. Please check whether your current provider charges early termination fees.

Yes. Rumpke’s preferred pricing includes weekly curbside trash and recycling collection. It also includes one 95-gallon rolling trash cart and one 65-gallon rolling recycling cart at no additional charge. Visit Rumpke’s website to see what items are accepted for recycling.

Existing customers who don’t already use recycling services should request a recycling cart online or call 800-828-8171.

Yes. An additional trash cart will cost $7 per month. Please call 800-828-8171 to request an additional cart.

Rumpke’s preferred pricing includes free bulk pickup for one item per year. Customers can arrange for this item to be picked up at any time during the year. Email [email protected] or call 800-828-8171 at least 24 hours in advance to schedule your pickup. This allows Rumpke to notify the driver to pick up the item and note it on your account.

Yard waste should be placed in your Rumpke trash cart and can be commingled with your trash. Brush placed at the curb must be tied in bundles no larger than four feet long and two feet wide.

Rumpke’s preferred pricing only applies to individual residential customers. Some HOAs have independent commercial contracts and should call 800-828-8171 to discuss those agreements.

Residents who have already paid into 2027 will receive a credit on their account after the first of the year.

Rumpke does not offer a discount if customers pay a full year in advance.

All Rumpke customers in Washington Township will receive the preferred pricing, beginning January 1, 2027, regardless of your current rate. The new rate includes both weekly trash and weekly recycling collection.

Current Rumpke customers will see an adjustment to their price in January 2027. Each bill that includes 2027 dates will see the adjusted rate.

No. Washington Township does not receive financial benefits from any of the trash haulers that operate in our community.
