The Terry Blair Scholarship

The $1,000 Terry Blair Scholarship is presented annually by Judy Blair and family in memory of her husband, Terry Blair, a former Washington Township trustee and a member of the Ohio General Assembly.

Judy Blair, daughter and Joseph LarsonA trustee for 21 years, Blair was elected by residents six times, and served eight terms as trustee president. He also served the community as the representative to the Ohio General Assembly for Ohio’s 42nd district. 

During his time as a Washington Township Trustee, he was a champion of good government, fiscal responsibility and cooperation. He held the township to high standards that included outstanding customer service and cost-effective service delivery.  Especially, he was a passionate advocate of grassroots government who believed deeply that local government should always be accountable to its citizens.

Terry took a leadership role in Optimists and embodied its creed to: “Be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.”

Fifth Annual Terry Blair Scholarship Winner

The fifth annual scholarship winner, Joseph Larson, has displayed an interest in the leadership and community service that Terry Blair epitomized. His service activities include: mentoring elementary students by sharing lunch with them each week through the Lunch Buddies program; Setting up a gymnastics meet; cleaning his church’s pond; and participating weekly in Octagon Club.

He has done this while also participating in Centerville High School Golf for three years, playing Kingdom basketball, and participating in the Centerville DECA program.
