Strategic Plan

Fire Department Strategic Plan

The Washington Township Fire Department updated its Strategic Plan in 2021. The plan defines the department's vision, mission, and values, and sets measurable goals and objectives for service delivery.

The 2021-2026 Strategic Plan (pdf, 64MB) builds on the mission, vision, and values of the previous plan. It introduces eight new measurable goals and about 30 action items to achieve them, covering staffing, budget, communications, technology, stations, and apparatus.

Community input played a key role in shaping the plan. The department invited community representatives to share feedback on its services and programs. Participants ranked their priorities and shared expectations, concerns, and other comments. Their specific findings are included in the appendix.

Department staff also took part in three days of work sessions. These sessions focused on the department's mission, values, core programs, and support services. Staff identified the department's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Participants represented a cross-section of the department.

The Center for Public Safety Excellence's Technical Advisor Program helped guide the process and finalized the plan. Accredited fire agencies update their strategic plan every three to five years.
